What to Expect

Worship is one of the key elements of the life of the Presbyterian Church of Coventry. Our Sunday morning worship services begins in the sanctuary at 10:30 AM.

Our style of worship would be classified  as traditional with an emphasis on Biblical teaching.  The music is mostly traditional hymns accompanied by piano and/or our worship orchestra.

The worship service consists of the following: Call to Worship, prayers, singing, time of silent confession of sin, Old and New Testament readings, an offering, and a sermon followed by a benediction.

Announcements are made at the end of the service following the benediction.

We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month during the morning worship service.  Communion is open to all those who are believers in Christ who are members in good standing with a believing church. On communion Sundays, an additional Deacon’s offering is taken to help those in our congregation and community that have needs. Communion is also celebrated on the third Sunday of the month during the Sunday evening service. We serve both wine and grape juice, grape juice is in the outer ring of the trays.

The doors from the Narthex to the Sanctuary are closed during the worship service. Out of respect we ask that you refrain from entering the sanctuary during prayer times and during scripture readings.

For security purposes the outside doors in the back of the building are locked once the worship service begins and again during Sunday school. If you arrive during these times, please enter the building through the Narthex or the fellowship hall.

There are two restrooms (Men and Women) located off the narthex.  Additional restrooms are located in the hallway from the fellowship hall to the classrooms.

Nursery care is provided in the nursery located in the education section of the building. Care is provided for infants and small children (up to age 3).

Overflow seating is available in the Fellowship hall.  The service can be heard through a speaker that is located in this room.

Sunday school for all ages meets prior to the Sunday worship service at  about 9:30 AM and ends at 10:15 AM.  There are usually 2-4 choices of adult Sunday school classes.

There is a brief time for conversation, fellowship, and hot drinks (coffee, tea, hot chocolate) in the fellowship hall immediately after the worship service and before Sunday school.

If you have questions, please feel free to ask anyone. Those people wearing name tags with a question mark (?) on them are particulary ready and able to help.

We welcome you to join us for worship.
