Dr. Brad D. Evans: Senior Pastor
Brad Evans has faithfully served as pastor for more than 30 years. He preached his first sermon as Pastor at PCC on Easter Sunday 1980. Prior to PCC, Brad served as Assistant Pastor at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Willow Grove, PA. Brad was born in Grove City, PA and grew up in Erie, PA. His undergraduate degree is in speech communication from Pennsylvania State University where he met his wife of 40 years Patsy (Wheatley) Evans. Brad has a Masters of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Covenant Seminary. He has served as moderator of both the Northeast and Southern New England Presbyteries (PCA). Brad participated in a pulpit exchange in Scotland in 1995 and has trained pastors and laymen in Manipur India. Brad and Patsy have two grown children: Brent Evans, pastor of Momence OPC in Momence, IL and Megan Hill who serves with her husband Pastor Rob Hill at Pinehaven Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Jackson, MS. They have 4 grandchildren. Patsy and Megan coauthor the blog sundaywomen.com to encourage women in ministry, such as pastors' wives, missionaries and youth leaders.
Rev. Lawrence Bowlin: Associate Pastor
Lawrence Bowlin was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and came to faith in Christ during his high school years. He studied History at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, where he graduated with honors and also met his wife, Ellen. While in college, Lawrence began to discern a call to ministry as he was involved in InterVarsity serving as a small group leader, in FCA teaching and leading music for afterschool programs, and later serving as a youth director in an ARP church plant his junior and senior years.
After graduation from the university, Lawrence attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, earning his Masters of Divinity degree in 1998. During his Seminary years, Lawrence worked as a Church Planting intern in Savannah Georgia and a chaplain in Yellowstone National Park where he proposed to his wife.
After graduation from seminary, Lawrence served one year in a Baptist church in Wilmington, NC before being ordained to the gospel ministry in the PCA. Since that time, Lawrence has served churches in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Connecticut in both the Senior and the Associate Pastor role. He has been serving as our Associate Pastor here in Coventry since 2012.
Lawrence is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte. He has finished all of his classes and is working on his dissertation now.
Lawrence and Ellen have been married for 18 years and have three girls: Grace, Joy, and Hope.
Rev. Lucas Dourado: RUF-UConn Minister
Lucas has served as campus minister with RUF at UConn since the Fall of 2011. He is an ordained Presbyterian (PCA) minister. He grew up in New Jersey and is a graduate of Wake Forest University (’06) and Covenant Theological Seminary (’11).
Having been involved in RUF while in college and having served as a ministry intern after college, RUF has been a huge part of his life since he was first introduced to it. Lucas married his beautiful wife Maggie in March 2012. She is from South Carolina and was also very involved in RUF in college. When on campus, Lucas can be found meeting with students, leading small groups, studying and teaching. When away from campus, he spends time enjoying music, sports, books, and the beautiful scenery of Northeastern Connecticut.
Lucas and Maggie have two children: Margot and Asher.
